Staying the Course

To the Editor:

I would like to sincerely thank all the voters who supported me in the Barnegat Light June 2023 primary election.

Thank you to all of the Republicans who wrote my name as a write-in candidate for borough council. On primary election day I came within four voting machine votes to win a borough council seat position on the November ballot. To the Democratic voters who came to the polls and successfully wrote in my name as a Democrat for borough council candidate, thank you, your voices have been heard!

My council seat is open for election in November. Earlier this year, I had the support of the Republican Party trustees, but as many of you are now aware, an unconventional selection method by a small group changed my status in one short evening. Some claim this was “democracy in action,” while I and others see it as “hypocrisy in action.”

Be that as it may, I and many others were highly disappointed by the decision and its backdoor process. As residents returned from their winter residencies, many heard of the dilemma created on that spring day. They have encouraged me to continue to do what I love.

I am writing to inform all I will be running for borough council in the November election as a write-in candidate.

It has been a pleasure and an honor to represent our community as one of two women on borough council. I am the third longest serving elected member of the governing body and have seen and supported thriving growth in Barnegat Light as well as supporting local businesses. I have held the council seat with the honor, respect and trust of Barnegat Light residents and visitors with true devotion.

To achieve my goal to serve Barnegat Light and remain on council, I need your help at the polls. In November, I ask for your write-in vote to keep my council seat. I am asking for the nonpartisan support of all voters who want to keep Barnegat Light as the special, unique, quiet town where we have chosen to live and vacation.

If you would like to hear my ideas on how to preserve Barnegat Light, or share some of your ideas with me, I would love to meet with you and perhaps your friends at my home or yours. Please contact me by email at [email protected]. I will be happy to hear from you. Let’s keep our quaint, small town a great place to live, visit and prosper.
