A COUPLE has shown off their new kitchen backsplash that they created themselves using a Home Depot rental.

They were quoted $1,500 for a home renovation that ended up costing them only $150 for their DIY project.

TikTok couple Wonhaus (@wonhaus) are huge fans of home transformations, DIY ideas, and chic designs on a budget.

In a TikTok video, the duo brought viewers into their home to showcase a recent task they tackled together.

The pair were quoted $1,500 for a kitchen backsplash and decided to save money by doing it themselves.

They watched a few videos, gathered materials, and finished it for only $150.

In total, the assignment took about eight hours but came with a bit of stress.

The video consisted of a montage of clips of the construction process that saved them $1,350.

To be transparent, they broke down the individual costs per item in the comment section.

It costs $70 for clearance tiles (.29 x240), $25 for the wet saw rental from Home Depot, $20 for the premixed grout, $20 for the ceramic adhesive, and $15 for the sanding stone, sponge, and trowel.

They also mentioned that they already had the laser so that wasn't factored into the total cost.

Several people couldn't believe how cheap all of the work was.

"We’re gonna need a breakdown of your costs cause that is far too cheap for a DIY," a viewer commented.

"I love when people think they killed it by choosing DIY," a troll chimed in.

"Should've went with subway tile. Doesn't look appealing tbh and I can see it's not straight," another added.

"I think it looks nice. Good job," a fan praised.
